Oh my goodness, I think I need a new prescription (and a large Scotch) after the week I’ve just spent glued to my screen working on the 2nd Global Talent Search assignment - a little nudge here, a little tweak there. Frankly, I’ve driven my husband up the wall. Here’s my final piece: All You Hold Dear, Memory Tin.
Our assignment was to design a tin for a fictional store and customer we were given a lot of information about. I’m a sentimental thing (hoarder), and I have always used cardboard shoeboxes to put special things in - movie tickets, letters, postcards, trinkets - so I chose a memory box theme.
This project was really 3 fold; designing the type and shape of tin, designing the pattern or imagery for the tin and designing the final presentation.I started with the pattern in 2 colourways - the fun part for me as I love drawing objects and quirky collectibles. I then designed 2 different sized tins, a shoebox-style for larger things like letters and photos, with a lock and key, and a tobacco box size for smaller trinkets.
Then it took me a while to put it all together, making the whole page work, getting everything on there that I needed to show - not too little, not too much. This is the part where my husband went bonkers.
Anyway, hope you like the end result. If you can do, please vote! One of the places in the final is People's Choice, so you can vote here if you so wish, it would be incredible to make the cut :-) The full gallery of everyone's work is here.
Thank you! x
